"Blooding Mask started as a project to feed and be fed by dreams. The name reflects the original logo portraying a mask, with a drop of blood dripping from one eye and ending up on a Moon. The mask represents the body, the blood represents the soul leaving the body during the night and ending up on a Moon, symbol of dreams."
Blooding Mask was born in 1992 after many years spent changing several different bands.
The project itself was already conceived in 1990, but this was officially born in June 1992, when Maethelyiah left her last band, to leave the dark metal sound she used to play and, with a guitarist, decided to lead this nightmare project.
If you really want to know the roots of this project, you can read "The World by my Stiletto Heels" page, where you can find a little estract from the complete profile and biography of Maethelyiah (soon to be published).
“All the Colors of Death” was the 1st work: this was recorded in its first tape version with 2 missing songs, (then included in the new recorded CD version), like “Hands against the Wall” and “Amicta”.
This was released in 1993, when Blooding Mask were playing their early live gigs.
A second work called “Pro Sanguine” was not officially published: this was including “Lylium” (the only one never published song before we added it as a bonus track on the new version of the album "What that hollow shows through"), the first instrumental version of “Cheope” and some other atmospheres released for DELLAMORTE DELLAMORE movie, then not allowed because it was considered “too scary for the movie itself”.
Michele Soavi, the movie director, was positively impressed by that work, explaining his admiration for the project and for the leader herself.
